Philip Taylor celebrated 60 years of shoemaking during 2025, after starting his training at Treloar College (Alton, Hampshire) aged just eleven. After leaving the college he worked at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (and for a short time at the London Institute of Orthopaedics) for the next seven years.
From the mid 1970s until 1995, he worked for three of the UKs best orthopaedic shoemaking companies, S Reed & Co, Prince & Fletcher and Charles Bullen, each time working alongside great shoemakers.
In 1996 Philip started his own business in Prescot, Merseyside, before moving the workshop to Leigh in Lancashire. He very soon got a reputation for 'putting things right', and solving his clients long term footwear problems. In 2010 Philip moved the business to the Hope Valley in the heart of the Peak District.
Soon after expanding the business to a team of 5, Covid struck the world. It resulted in the business almost failing to exisit, but Philip and Sarah steered the ship through the difficult times, and aonce again a sense of enjoyment to our work. They were soon joined by Charlotte who had been part of the team previously.
We are here because our clients trust us, and share with us the journey to get their shoes and boots right. No false promises, proud of our work and ethics, and happy with our days work. Why not pay us a visit?
