The Cordwainer offers a variety of services for the footwear industry, they include:

  • Shoemaking skills workshops for beginners and those wishing to upgrade their skills (daily or weekly courses available .

  • Assessments reports of existing footwear in order to help improve footwear received through the NHS.

  • Expert Witness reports for the legal profession.

  • We will make footwear and orthotics that will improve your mobility and wellbeing.

  • We will make footwear you are proud to wear.

  • We will complete your footwear order in six weeks or sooner if possible (conditions apply).

  • We will complete your orthotics order in 5 days or soonr if possible.

  • We will support you if you want to have the footwear or orthotics I make supplied through the NHS (please see NHS footwear page).

  • We will guarantee the lowest price for the specialist service provided.

The footwear and orthotics we make is designed to give our clients the sense of wellbeing that comes as a result of having shoes and boots that fit properly and still look good. We specialise in making footwear for people with all sorts of foot and mobility problems, but always try to keep in mind that the customer wants the shoes to look as normal as possible.

The Cordwainer offers a limited Nationwide Visiting Service for those unable to travel to the shop for measuring and fitting, this does however add to the cost and the time it takes to complete your order.

The workshop in the Peak District in Derbyshire is easy to find and we have plenty of parking and a ramp up to the workshop, we are easily accessible by train too.  Please telephone first to make an appointment.

* Please note that Sat Nav systems often lead customers into local lanes near the workshop. The workshop is located on Stretfield Road, Brough, approximately 500 yards from the trafiic lights.
