The left foot had suffered a severe crush injury resulting in a number of pressure points when wearing any shoes or boots.

The task was to replace his existing NHS footwear which caused great discomfort with shoes which supported his feet.

The original shoes supplied distorted heavily when used because they contained no support for the feet.

The lacing section of the shoe caused severe rubbing on old scar tissue which added to the discomfort caused by the shoes.

The trainers which were supplied were no better. The materials and styling used created more problems than were solved.

Although the damaged foot was not too dissimilar in shape to the normal foot, the trainers looked anything but normal.

These trainers were one of half a dozen pairs which could not be worn without causing pain .

The offset lacing on these shoes solved the problem of rubbing against the scar tissue.

The cradles which were built into the shoes allowed for pain free use and led to Simon being able to stop taking high doses of pain killing tablets.

Simon has said these shoes have "given him his life back".
