A big day for our workshop today. Our ageing shoe finishing machine has been replaced by a modern machine made by Standard Engineering of Kettering. We have also installed an extra grinding machine to increase our working capacity. This our biggest investment since the business began in 1996.

We welcomed Jen to the workshop today. Jen is a qualified podiatrist with some shoemaking experience and will bring new skills  with her. She will be pivitol in the development of our new Peak Orthotics service.

We are able to keep our prise rises to a minimum this year, with rises averaging around £20 per pair for repeat customers. However the offers and promotions we hold from time to time will more than offset these rises. All you need to do is keep up to date with the website news page, we update these pages every month.

We have launched a bespoke orthotics (special insoles) service for those clients who need support  for their feet but not bespoke footwear. Orthotics are suitable for:

* Long term conditions.
* Accident or trauma.
* Sports injuries.

We celebrate the New Year with the launch of the new website, thanks go to Si Homfray and his team at Hammer Design for his help with the design and launch of the site.

I have agreed to work with Leeds University to put together a pioneering conference which will look specifically at the supply of footwear through the NHS. This will be an important project and is fully supported by the University and a variety of charities. Further information will be available soon.

We have been awarded a grant of around £13,000 through the LEADER programme of funding for businesses in the Peak District. The East Midlands Development Agency have helped us put together a programme of development which will include training an apprentice, workshop improvements and upgrade to machinery and equipment.

It is possible to make your new footwear in as little as 7-14 days (conditions apply). The charge for this service can been viewed on the prices page. You could stay locally in the Peak District and enjoy a holiday while your shoes are being made - what an offer.

We began the move to Bradwell today, the last customer has been seen and we are now looking forward to getting back to work again soon.
